Stretching the Boundaries of Your Belief Systems

I’ve recently had someone comment…

‘[ just hope they don't declare your offgrid lands a conservation, reserve, or wetlands .. then you are screwed Rob .. seriously .. ]‘

‘I would caution others of this blinder-syndrome however’

I trained in the art of TaeKwonDo for over 10 years. Throughout my training I was pushed by my instructor and challenged a lot on my self limiting thoughts and beliefs. I spent many classes crying in the corner of the gym. I wanted to give up but I forced myself to keep going. The whole point of the training was to bust through those self limiting barriers and learn how to perform at my full potential. When I started I did not think I could break 3/4 inch boards let alone 5 cinder block bricks. I did not know that I could hold my own against 5 blackbelts in a sparing match. I did not know that I could do the splits or break boards that are placed well over my head. I did not know that I could teach kids how to do the same either.

Obtain Mental Freedom By Reprogramming the Subconscious Mind

When I started this journey 7 years ago, I never contemplated how much learning and change would be involved. After all, how difficult is it really to live off grid and govern yourself? I find that my conscious mind is very busy working through some of these new ideas and figuring out how to integrate those ideas into my current life. The capacity for the conscious mind is much smaller than the sub-conscious mind and each mind has a very specific purpose and function.

The conscious mind is used to work on new ideas and tasks that require detail, focus and precision. I also believe the conscious mind is also responsible for programming the sub-conscious mind. The sub-conscious mind is the auto pilot so that we don’t feel so overwhelmed with the details associated with tasks in our lives.

Why Do Our Belief Structures Need to Be Proven By Facts?

I’ve been reading a LOT of Facebook posts over the last number of months and I see a lot of people sharing information in an attempt to wake up people. I sense much anxiety and fear from many of these posts. Are we so afraid of what might happen that we need everyone on our side in order to make the changes we want to see or to prevent specific things from occurring? Why is it so important that all these people wake up? Is their state of consciousness preventing us from taking active steps to change our own lives or are we wanting the masses to get on board so that we feel better about our choices? Why do we put so much stock into what other people are doing or saying? Why is it so important that they think and believe the same thing that we do? Why do we keep kidding ourselves thinking that we can change others when the only one we can change is our self? Why do we keep trying?

Why is it difficult for others to accept that some people may believe in things that don’t make sense? Why do belief structures need to be proven by facts? Who really cares what others believe, say or think?

Living “Off the Grid” and Loving It!

rob recently wrote an article in Mosaic Magazine in which he discusses how he began his journey on removing his reliance from dependencies in his life. You can find the full version of this article in their latest magazine edition.

rob writes…..

Life is about relationships. This was a lesson that I had to learn the hard way. For 30 years I struggled with depression and when I went through the darkest days of my life I found myself mired in drugs, suicide attempts, a broken marriage and no friends. I got to the point where I decided that it was time to change or die. At that point I had the opportunity to join a unique therapy group out of the U of A Hospital where I went through intensive group therapy, full time for 18 weeks, and it changed my life.
