Greenhouse Project Scavenger Team

Hello fellow Conscious People!

I’d like to give you all an update on the Greenhouse Project and I am looking for volunteers to support us with the ‘Scavenger Team’ and support for the labour in building the FREEDOME!

As you are aware, the first phase of the project was the support of the community and the design of the structure that would provide us with the maximum and best results for this year to test our off grid design. The design is complete and we are ready to dig.

We have a tentative date for mid September to begin to dig and we have gathered many of the materials for this project. AND WE STILL NEED TO FIND MORE! WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH OUR SCAVENGER TEAM TO FIND THE REMAINING OF THE MATERIALS.

Here are the Materials List for FreeDome Greenhouse prototype and the FreeDome Greenhouse v1.1 design documents.

I know there is an abundance of these materials around. All we need is a couple of hours per volunteer to call around, job sites, home depot and other like businesses and see if they have any materials to spare.

Year Round Greenhouse Dome in Colorado

Here’s an excellent example of what can be accomplished with a year round greenhouse in cold weather climate. This particular greenhouse is in Colorado which is cold for much of the year, but inside this cozy dome greenhouse, the plants are growing happily. Take a tour with Buckhorn Gardens manager and permaculturist Breigh Peterson. It’s inspiring to view the greenhouse structure with its interplay of light and water, warmth and air. It also has curved raised beds of vegetables and flowers; fish tanks moderating the temperature; vertical trellises and shelves to use vertical space. Outdoors a huge garden of row crops and a young orchard are complemented by free-roaming chickens and ducks!
